The Kenyan coastline is an undiscovered gem. Located on the Indian Ocean, the tropical shores of Diani are known for its white sand and turquoise warm waters.

Diani Blue is a charmingly small, intimate and exclusive beach lodge, lapped by the waters of the India Ocean. Ideally located on Diani Beach, which was recently voted the “Best Beach in Africa” by the ‘Oscars’ of the travel industry. Diani Blue features just six spacious Swahili-styled rooms (all with AC) clustered around a central pool and overlooking the silver-white sands of Diani Beach, an al fresco dining terrace, a resident’s lounge with private bar, an airy veranda with views over the pool, a dedicated beach health spa and palm-shaded beach restaurant ~ The Edge

MedTreks Global Health Retreat: the beach portion of this trip is a time to relax and unwind from a busy week working on global health projects with HopeCore. During the coastal stay, there will be an option to participate in morning yoga in addition to a variety of outdoor water sports including snorkeling, windsurfing, kiteboarding, fishing, and swimming.

Samburu National Reserve is home to a very large population fo Kenyan animals including Nile crocodile, giraffes, cheetahs, leopards, lions, elephants, buffalo & hippos.

Samburu Reserve
The Samburu National Reserve is located along the southeastern corner of the Rift Valley. Samburu reserve is named after the Samburu tribe who still reside in the area. Related to the Maasai, the Samburu wear a similar traditional dress of blankets and beads and maintain a similar lifestyle. They are known for their remote culture, pastoral and nomadic way of life. There is an option to visit this tribe on your safari.
Ashnil Samburu Camp
Luxury tented camp on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River. The exclusive tented camp features an outdoor swimming pool surrounded by sun lounges, a garden and lounge bar offering views of the African savannah. Each tent features a decked terrace with views of the Ewaso Nyiro River. The restaurant offers views of the river and serves a variety of menus comprising of traditional & international cuisines. A range of activities are available on request and comprise of game drives, nature walks, bush meals and a cultural visit to the Samburu village.

Do I have to be a medical Doctor to volunteer? Can I receive CME?
We believe that if you are passionate about sharing your knowledge, then you have something to contribute to help support our staff. For this reason, we highly encourage medical professionals with advanced skill sets such as MD, NPs/PAs, RNs, Paramedics but we also value and welcome students, EMTs and interns to participate in our programs. All Kenya courses provide 20 Nurse CEs.Β
What will I do as a MedTreks Kenya Volunteer?
Throughout the week you will participate in several different areas of our community health program including working in the mobile school clinics, performing community health outreach events, engaging in daily medical skills training, providing health education and skills workshops for our local staff.

What is your program model?
We are working to build healthcare capacity and create fun & engaging professional development for medical providers around the world.
